to the Nikki P. Photography blog, where I post news and info about everything from new products to upcoming promotions and showcase my favorite photos, both from client sessions as well as my personal life.

I am passionate about photography. I love the entire process of creating images, from the first spark of inspiration to the live shoot to the post-processing. My style is like my personality - a mix of extremes. I am equally drawn to the drama and intensity of rich, deep colors AND the softness and simplicity of pale, vintagey tones. The result is my unique, eclectic style that combines the best of both worlds.

Besides photography, I love music, yoga, coffee & bookstores, shopping, antiquing at flea markets, interior design, and fashion (although you wouldn't know it to look at me, since I am almost always in jeans and a t-shirt!) I am a homebody and love hanging with my crazy little blended family who makes everything more meaningful.

I love the internet for its ability to connect people who would otherwise probably never meet - so have a look around and leave me a comment or send me a note through the contact link in the menu above. I'd love to hear from you!

Miranda | Senior Portrait Photography, Montgomery, AL

Miranda is a girl after my own heart. First of all, she loves HATS! I love HATS! We really bonded over this shared love of hats, haha. Secondly, the girl has total rock star style – I loved all of her outfits! Third, she got the navy pea coat and hat at the flea market (something else we both love). And last but not least, she loves the 1940s – how cool is that? To top it all off, not only is she naturally beautiful, she seems really comfortable with herself – which makes her a dream to photograph.

I had a blast with you, Miranda! Thanks so much for letting me take your senior portraits! xoxo

lots more to come tomorrow…

…and here is the second installment!

*Snow Day*

School was cancelled today, and Kris was off of work due to the “inclement weather conditions.” My dad came over to play in the snow w/the kids. He also gave out Valentine’s cards (and some beautiful flowers for me!), and took some pictures of us (like father, like daughter). So I decided to get out the camera too….even if it was only slightly more than slush. :) It’s not every day it snows in Alabama!

Blog Makeover

I gave my blog a makeover this weekend, in an attempt to make it flow better with my portfolio site. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it’s a better reflection of my style. Let me know what you think!

It’s been a lovely, quiet Sunday, and I actually had some down time this afternoon, so I pulled out a few old photos that never got edited and played with them. :) These were taken Memorial Day weekend 2009, just some candids I shot while me, Olivia, and Dylan were walking to my mom’s house. Look how cute and carefree Olivia looks, with her messy hair – it makes me miss her!!! Love that girl.

Katherine’s Birthday at Cici’s

I mentioned that from time to time I’ll put a little post about my personal life, so here we go!

Kris & I took the kids to Cici’s in Prattville Saturday afternoon for an impromptu birthday celebration for Kris’s niece, Katherine (aka Kitty). Prattville had its Mardi Gras parade that day, and we tried to make it, but we were too late. That’s why everyone has on beads, though. :) Olivia had just gotten a jewelry making kit for Christmas, so we decided we’d make Katherine a gift. I made her an all-pink bracelet (pink is her favorite) and Olivia made her a necklace that said ‘Kitty” – so cute! I wish I had taken pictures of that! What was I thinking?? And what are Kevin and Amanda looking at??
